My 2023 word of the year

It’s been a few years since I chose a word of the year, and I’m sure I don’t need to explain why…

Actually, I feel that my word of the year in 2020 and 2021 morphed into “survival”, and no one really needed to know about that, given we were all living it!

Soooo, drumroll please…

My word of the year for 2023 is intentional.

In past years when I’ve chosen a word, I’ve spent time reflecting on the past year and on what I wanted to achieve in the next year.

That didn’t happen this time.

This word came about after I read The Bullet Journal Method by Ryder Carroll a few weeks ago. I was cleaning my teeth (boring, right?) when the word popped into my mind and wouldn’t leave. I sat on it for a few days, and decided I really love what it signifies for me and the coming twelve months.

A personal word of the year means different things to different people, and for me, it means that I look at my life in terms of the word. How will I live these elements of my life in a more intentional way?

It’s a way of reminding myself to focus on creating positive change in these core areas:

·       Relationship with Shaun

·       Career / business

·       Finances

·       Home

·       Family and friends

·       Health and fitness

·       Having fun

·       Energy and time

I have also set a series of goals and am trying to create some new habits and routines that will help me – hopefully – be more intentional with my time and procrastinate less!

Do you choose a word of the year? If you have one, I’d love for you to share it with me.
