We can all be leaders.
One of the things I found most interesting while launching Thriving Leaders was that so many women told me they weren’t leaders.
When we hear the word "leader," we often picture men in positions of authority, guiding and inspiring others towards a common goal. However, true leadership transcends job titles and hierarchies.
Leadership is about positively guiding, motivating, and influencing others.
And we all have the capacity to do this.
If you’re wondering if you really are a leader, ask yourself these questions:
Do I inspire others?
Am I willing to take responsibility?
Do I lead by example?
Do I learn from my mistakes?
Do I empower others?
Can I make decisions? Especially the hard decisions?
Do I support the growth of others?
Do people trust me?
If you answer no to these, because you don’t think you do any of these things at work, then consider the answers in terms of your family, your friends, and your community.
What is your answer now?
Remember that leadership is defined by our attitudes, behaviour and actions. Not by your job title.
