How are you spending your last few weeks of 2022?

If you read my newsletter last week, you will know that I’m not spending too much time in these last weeks of 2022 worrying about arbitrary end of year deadlines!

What I am doing, is starting to think more deeply about 2023.

What do I want it to look like. Who do I want to work with, what work do I want to be doing.

My process for the rest of this year and much of January looks a lot like this:

1. A reflection on what I have achieved in 2022.

I ask myself questions that include:

  • What worked well this year, and what didn’t?

  • What (and who) gave me energy and what sapped my energy?

  • What useful beliefs did I have?

  • Did I use my time wisely?

  • What gave me the most joy?

2. Take the time to recharge
For me, the end of the year is a great time to recharge. Most of my work is done for the year and my clients are also usually taking a break. Things I need to think about are:

  • What can I do that will bring me joy?

  • When will I take a break from technology? (especially my phone!)

  • How many social activities I schedule (hint: as few as possible!)

  • Getting enough sleep, eating the right foods (and not too much champagne!) and exercising every day

3. Reset

I personally find January is a great time to reset my goals and aspirations for the year ahead:

  • Where and when will I take holidays – yes, this is a key priority

  • What do I want to stop, start and continue in 2023?

  • What work do I want to do?

  • Who do I want to work with?

  • What personal projects do I want to undertake?

What does your end of year look like? Are you also taking time to reflect, recharge and reset?
